Data Charts from “The Measure of America”

The following data charts, drawn from “The Measure of America”, are now available in Excel for research, presentation, advocacy and other purposes. They can be sorted by group (ie. states, congressional districts, etc.) or by indicator (ie. highest to lowest life expectancy, etc.) All data are standardized in order to ensure comparability between groups. This process of standardization is time consuming, and there is typically a delay of two to three years. For every indicator, we have tried to present the most updated data.

The source for each indicator is listed at the bottom of the chart. U.S. INDICATOR TABLES were prepared using official U.S. government data to the maximum extent possible. OECD INDICATOR TABLES contain data in important human development dimensions comparing the United States to our “peer” nations. This is a group of 30 countries, mostly in North America, Western Europe and the Nordic countries plus several additional countries. They make up the members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). These tables were prepared using official data from international organizations recognized as data providers for those indicators.
